A trail is needed this time of year. Look!...there's one! It's the Ozark Highlands Trail. I shall walk a portion of it now. This small section starts at Fairview Campground on Hwy 7 just north of Pelsor, Arkansas. At 5:15 a.m. the overgrown trail was traced to the west in the final hour of darkness. The forest was still and lifeless save for a cricket or two. The wind was non-existent. It was 70° and cloudy...67° in the valley's recesses. Buck Branch was a trickle. The trail was followed out and then back. I prefer loops. By 10:15 the campground was before me. The hike was uneventful and unexciting. The distance was 7.5 miles. I drove home and ate lunch. Yay.
