Every time I visit Hawsbill Crag in the Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area my desire to go back dwindles. This spot is in danger of being ruined by throngs of people in search of the easy way in to the wilderness. Now there is a port-a-potty on location at the parking area. This thing of beauty is an eyesore and is about to overflow with abundant dooky juices. The top of the bluff line is eroding away from all the foot traffic. My visit just beat the crowds that arrived at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning. It was a lovely, mostly cloudy morning with a temp of 70°. On the way out a light rain attempted to penetrate the leaves above me without much success. This round trip hike is about 3 miles. My entry was made at 5:30 and my exit was at 8:00. The Cliffhouse Restaurant on Hwy 7 south of Jasper was my next stop.
