Driving Around the Southwestern Ouachita Mountains

Driving north on I-40 towards Conway my destination was still unclear. Sometimes I just can't decide where to go. Nothing felt right this morning at 2:15 a.m. The night before my maps displayed no points of real interest. The Conway exit beckoned to me and before long my vehicle was heading west. By 5:00 Mena was before me. After a gas up and a gander at the lunar eclipse a local downtown restaurant was the next stop. Breakfast was had at the Skyline Cafe, which conveniently opens at 5:30. After that it was into the Ouachita National Forest and past Caney Creek Wilderness Area and Shady Lake. This seemed like a waste of really nice spring day that could have been spent hiking...but oh well, the drive was enjoyable for a change.
