Two miles is all I need these days. The section of the Middle Fork of the Illinois Bayou from Snow Creek to the Hwy 27 bridge offers just enough whitewater and great scenery. This will make my 14th or so run of this section in the last 32 years. At 7:05 a.m. my kayak slid into Snow Creek with an air temp of 67°. Not bad for August 21st. After almost a week of rain the water was fairly chilly as well. The skies were finally clearing and the morning was excellent. The water level was 9.3 feet by the Corps of Engineers gauge at put in. Breakfast was at Denny's in Russellville.
