Summer bluff action hike in the Hurricane Creek Wilderness Area, Ozark National Forest8/11/18
Hurricane Creek Wilderness Area is one of my favorite areas. I have not visited it in a while so I did. The goal was a bluff that affords a great view up and down the creek. Through woods of darkness and shrubbery thickened by summer foliage, my way was slowly made to this bluff. The morning was clear with 70° and goodly humidity. Arrival to my bluff was just before sunrise as, planned. After observance of the new day's dawning, the bluff line was followed south and then west up a side hollow. The high was to be just above 90°, but as I exited the forest at 11:25 it was a mere 80°. It felt warmer. The total hike was 4 miles.
