North Fork of the Illinois Bayou
Overnight bluff camp above the North Fork of the Illinois Bayou
9/21/18
Thursday afternoon...escape from work...drive north...hike upstream. These events are true. They all actually happened, and in this sequence. The bluff of my choosing was secured and camp was prepared. It was 90° dammit. There was a breeze so the conditions were not terribly bad. My view was excellent. No signs of civilization were seen or heard. I ate dinner, watched the sunset, made a fire and went to sleep...all in one night. My slumber was disturbed at 5:20 a.m. by the twinklings of tiny raindrops upon my tarp. Bummer. I wanted to hang around and watch the sunrise. Instead, I sprang from the hammock and crammed all gear into my super expensive backpack. All the gear inside was super expensive as well. By 7:30 breakfast was laid before me at Dewayne's in Dover. ate this, drove home. Enjoyed!
