Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area
Hike above the Buffalo River near Little Pine Hollow, Whitaker Creek10/6/18
Last week my attempt at bluff action was not successful. This week, bluff action is achieved, dammit. At 5:00 a.m. with 71° and a mostly unobscured sky, the dark emptiness that is the wilderness was penetrated. Please note the breakfast was secured in Russellville at Denny's. Susie served up a good ass breakfast assortment that I ingested with much fervor. Then a long auto journey brought me here. A decent bluff was located and mounted. Here, sunrise came after much impatience. The morning was a good one, and I savored its gootness. My view included the valley of Whitaker Creek. Legend has it that Jim Bob Whitaker settled near the creek in 1829. he lost his sanity and ate his family. Bastard. From my distant promontory, tiny sheep-like humans overpopulated the rocky outcropping known as Hawksbill Crag. That location has been ruined for all eternity. Carnival rides set back in the woods entertain the children while the adults toss trash into the valley below. I was far enough away that their shrieks were inaudible to me.
Soon, my exploration continued around the bluff line until a suitable luncheon bluff was identified. There, the sandwich of my choosing was eaten. The morning continued to provide much beauty. By 11:15 with 75°, my hike ended. The miles of the hiking were three.
