Lower Buffalo Wilderness
Hike in the Lower Buffalo Wilderness south of the river
12/22/18
Just three weeks ago I visited the Lower Buffalo Wilderness and camped on the north side of the river. This week the south side of the same area was explored and was found to be well worth the time spent there. Breakfast was at Waffle House in Conway. At 5:20 a.m. with 32° registering on the meter of thermo, the woods took me in. Within a short amount of time the Buffalo River was in view. It was still dark but I could see it. After a while there it was on to the river below. This was traced downstream where I experienced much rejoicing. After lunch the valley was abandoned for the higher elevations whence I came. At 12:40 with 61° my journey ended. The day was partly cloudy to mostly sunny. The distance traveled was 6.6 miles.
