This is the third time I have entered the Horsehead Creek watershed. It is an impressive area. On this occasion...a controlled burn of the location had recently been performed. It pretty much ruined the exploration. My time there was brief and I accomplished little. Recovery of the forest floor here will take some time before it appears natural once more. I entered there at 4:55 with 42° and exited at 8:15 with 45° and sunny skies. The distance hiked was 4.5 miles. A feeling of sadness washed over me as I drove away.
