Leatherwood Wilderness Area
Hike of spring shrubbery action in the Leatherwood Wilderness Area
Description
4/11/20
As the leaves sprout forth, so must I. At 5:50 with 47°, fairly cloudy skies and a goodly breeze, I entered the forest of green. There was great darkness so the colors were mostly subdued. Soon the sun shone upon the assorted leaves and revealed their true brilliance. A bluff was mounted and viewing of the morning began. The valley was wide and just to the west, the Buffalo River flowed. It was out of sight and beyond some ridges, but I could still envision its manly current. After the best of the morning faded, my interest turned to tracing the bluff line and just taking in the natural abundance. Eventually, lunch was taken while seated upon the forest floor. An oak served as my backrest and pine needles and leaves cushioned my loins. Here was found a sense of peacefulness. No woodland creatures attempted to take me down while I rested. By 11:15 with 66°, I returned to point zero. My mind was once more cleansed.
