Buffalo National River
Kayaking Upstream From Woolum to Beyond the Narrows (Nars)
7/15/17
The Buffalo River from Hwy 7 down still has just enough water for paddling even well into July this year. I took advantage of this by entering the river at Woolum at 5:40 a.m. and paddling upstream. The morning was most cloudy with some fog and a temp of 75°. Skull Bluff and the Narrows (Nars) were passed until three miles of river were covered. I then returned and fished some. Many huge fish were hooked and released. The total trip was six miles. The sun did eventually emerge around 10:00 and the river was exited at 11:15. The Narrows were visited on a previous trip two years ago so I did not attempt to mount the ridge.
