Buffalo National River
Kayaking upstream from Mt Hersey and back down on the Buffalo River
7/3/20
It's been about a year since I last paddled somewhere on the Buffalo. On this morning I launched at Mt Heresy and headed upstream. At 5:30, by darkness with 70°. I paddled and dragged. The level was below normal for good floating on this section. The skies were partly cloudy and the wind picked up around 8:00 a.m. Only one group of four kayaks was passed heading downstream. No campers were encountered. Many decent bluffs lined the river here. After almost three miles were covered, I stopped for lunch. Then it was back downstream with mostly cloudy skies. High temp was around 84°. I exited the river around out at 11:50. The total mileage was about 5.7 miles. I had planned to fish but never did.
