Flatside Wilderness Area
Hike of tremendous action Flatside Wilderness Area style
3/3/21
I believe that I first stepped into this area in 1980. The forest here was still unprotected, but in 1984 the Flatside Wilderness Area was created. The trees were penetrated at 6:00 a.m. with 40° and clear skies. My direction was north until Cedar Creek was located and followed downstream. A lovely waterfall was found and admired for a time. This was Lederhosen Falls, named after Jim Bob Lederhosen in 1827. The stream was traced until it ran into a mountain and headed east. Soon, my path went back up the ridge through rugged terrain. Severe deadly consequences would be had with the slightest misstep. By 10:20 with 58°, I arrived back at my origin. The total distance was 4 miles.
