Sandstone Creek to North Sylamore Creek
Hike down Sandstone Creek to North Sylamore Creek with sand on stone action
10/26/21
Areas of special interest can be of interest. On this lovely fall morning I visited Sandstone Creek and found it to be moderately interesting. This location is very near the Gunner Pool Recreation Area. The forest was entered at 5:20 with 48° and skies clear of clouds. A partial moon barely lit the dark woods. The creek was traced for about 1.5 miles to its confluence with North Sylamore Creek. Flowing water was quite sporadic over this section of Sandstone Creek. When encountered, the water appeared to be very refreshing, though I did not partake of its moistness. Sylamore Creek had a fair flow and also gave the impression that it held refreshing characteristics as well. From there it was upstream to Gunner Pool, where I ate lunch at 11:00 with 60° and partly cloudy skies. My toasted sandwhich provide my bodily unit with with much need sustenance. The hike totaled 4.3 miles and was enjoyable. The early fall colors were notable, that is why I have noted that here. Please feel free to visit this area at your leisure, for I hold no claim to it being part of my domain.
