Overnight backpack to Bowers Hollow and Hawk Hollow with undisclosed action
12/21/21
Tuesday morning. I arrived at the South Park Restaurant in Clarksville at 6:00. Closed for the holidays! Damn you South Park! My only choice for this time of the day was Waffle House, so there I went. Then...onward to the north. At 8:20 with 34° the forest was penetrated. I hiked until arriving at Bowers Hollow Falls. I did not enter the depths of the hollow there. To the south then. The day was bright and cold with a moderate breeze. It was a day containing great beauty. Many creatures pounced upon me along the way. Each was easily deflected to the left or the right and left dazed and confused as to what just happened. Bastards! Hawk Hollow was arrived at next. It was there that camp was set up and lunch partaken of.
The remainder of the afternoon was filled with exploration of the area. I had visited there many times in the past, so not a lot new to see. The falls were lovely. I did ponder upon their existence for a time. Then I returned to home base and ate some dinner consisting of chicken and dumplings. The sun slowly moved below the tree fringed ridge in the distance. All was good. It got dark quite early and my bed was occupied by 6:30. My shelter was a tarp and my sleeping surface was the ground and an insulated mattress. All were of the highest quality and expensive. The moon joined me around 8:00 and continued with me until sunrise. Sleep timed was ended at 6:45 with 26°. Gear was packed and camp was exited before sunrise. The hike back was pleasant and without animal attack. My start location was arrived at by 9:30 with 38° and continued clear skies. My total mileage was eight of those mile units.
