Bluff hike above Dismal Hollow near the East Fork Little Buffalo
8/23/22
This area one of my very favorite areas. As areas go...it's right up there in the top area. Many visits have been made to this area by me. My morning started early due to the inability to sleep that night. Breakfast was at Waffle House since Denny's had no 1/2 and 1/2 for my coffee. Bastards! Entry was made into the forest at 4:15 with 71 very humid degrees and partly cloudy skies. A bluff was mounted with some extra time until sunrise. This time was used to lie back and relax until then...maybe even fall asleep. A Barred Owl landed in a pine tree just above me and provided some entertainment for about 5 minutes. A distant Screech Owl was heard but not seen.
Some fog crept in but did not obscure everything. The sun never showed itself that morning. The duration of my blufftop occupation did prove to be time well spent. The fog lifted and provided much beauty as it perished. Exit from the shrubbery was made at 9:15 with 72° and cloudy skies. Driving home many wildland creatures dodged my tires and I'm happy to say...some avoided them.
