Hike into the Flatside Wilderness while dodging hunter's bullets
11/16/22
Why, you might ask, is this wilderness named Flatside? I have no idea. On this hike my boots take me within its boundaries, once again. Breakfast was at home. Hunting season is on. That makes an early morning walk through the forest even more exciting. Entry was made at 6:10 with clearish skies and 31°. The valley floor was sought and found. The uppermost reaches of Crystal Prong...a creek... were followed upstream and in a zig-zag fashion. Many wonders of nature and geology were observed and made note of. It was after this...and only after...that I exited the shrubbery and went home. It was 10:35 and 42° when this occurred. My mileage was right at 4.4 miles...yours may vary.
