Whitaker Creek bluff hike in the Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area
5/3/23
Last time it was Dug Hollow...this time, it's Whitaker Creek. At 5:00 a.m. the temp was 46°. The forest was entered then. A hike was made through the dense and manly woods until the ground disappeared into the valley of the aforementioned creek. The view was shimmering as the sun entered the scene. I was beside myself as the beauty was beheld. All that I surveyed was mine...mine I tell you! Down below, water was heard as it flowed by at a fairly low volume. I listened to it for a while, but it told me nothing. The bluff line was followed and then it was not followed. At 9:40 with mostly sunny skies and 60°, my vehicular unit stood before me. It delivered me home soon after. Miles recorded were 3.8 of those.
