Bluff and creek hike in the Dismal Creek area
2/13/24
The watershed of Dismal Creek contains many wonders. The waterfall with the opening in it has been ruined by the masses that go to gaze and fall into this natural wonder. I've seen it and have no desire to see it again. Other aspects of this watershed are better to visit, mainly due to the fact that no one goes deeper into this creek system...except me. On this morning in February, entry was made into the woods at 5:15 with 33° and clear skies. A bluff line was found and, as is usual, time was spent there.
The valley was crossed and a neighboring ridge was followed along the bluff line in a U-shape. Much beautiful terrain was made note of. Lunch was eaten and the forest was exited. It was 11:30 with 50° at that time. Mileage was 4 units...yours may vary.
