Hurricane Creek Wilderness Area
Overnight backpack in the Hurricane Creek Wilderness with bluff action
5/21/24
It was Sunday, just after noon. The day was bright. The temperature was 60°. The creek was followed for an undisclosed distance. It was then that the quite severe slope was mounted. Within a stretch of time, my target bluff was located and checked for wildland creatures. These very beasts would just as soon feast upon my loins as look me up and down...also sideways. All was clear and my camp for the night was erected. Time was spent there loitering about. Dinner was eaten. It was composed of chicken and dumplings. Night fell, as did the warmth of the day...into coolness. A fire was brought forth and it was admired into the evening. Then to bed did I go.
My sleep was fair. No cold was felt. Upon rising it was noted to be 32°. This was surprising. The sunrise was observed and it was of a fine quality. It was then that the site was departed from. Up the slope I did struggle, for is was a quite severe slope, as aforementioned. A shelf was found and traced until it fell down towards the valley. At 8:25 with 38°, my vehicle was sighted and driven away, with me inside. The outing was lovely.
