Smith Creek
Smith Creek hike of bluff above creek deep forest style action
6/15/26
Smith Creek is a tributary of the Buffalo River. In the 1800's it was named after a settler named Jim Bob Smiff, and later changed to the better known Smith version to satisfy his wife Susie's preference. A few years, later Jim Bob's horse "accidentally" fell on Susie rendering her...well...dead. On this morning in June, the forest was entered at 4:30 with 60°. The dense shrubbery infested woodland was traversed until the bluff line was obtained. This line of bluffs was of poor quality due to its lack of views into the valley. The sun eventually revealed itself from betwixed the cloud cover and shown down upon my loins. Then I left. Exit from the forest occurred at 8:20 with 65°. The morning was considered to be lovely. Hikeage covered a measly 2.2 miles.
